Estimation and Feasibility of Generating Power Using Tidal Energy
The Earth revolves around the Sun, and a major celestial body Moon revolves around the Earth. Dynamics of the celestial bodies enable capturing of renewable energy at competitive prices. Capturing the tidal energy is one of the ways of tapping natural and renewable energy which do not involve the cost of working fluid/ fuel. Therefore it is viable to produce tidal energy on a large scale on a planet like the Earth which consists of surface water in large quantities, in the form of rivers, sea and ocean. The present work focuses on some of the feasibility aspects of setting up of major tidal power plants along the sea coast. In addition the present study synergizes on methods of estimating the power producing capacities in regions along the sea coast. Estimation of power producing capacities, calendar month wise and lunar moth wise gave handy information. In addition, estimation of power producing capacities of different regions along a location gave clarity on the probable regions of interest for producing power simultaneously. Comparison of the estimates with the details of literature authenticated the study. A discussion of producing more power within the locations that include larger depth of the ocean gave insights into the aspects that may have been ignored in the literature. Geographic restrictions along the local sea coast like identifying the security sensitive regions rationalized the estimating procedures. The study supposedly helps the space exploration too. A discussion of the use of cementitious materials as part of the construction materials that constitute the infrastructural facilities of use in producing the power from tidal energy without altering the fluid levels in a big way shows viable approaches including capturing of sea food to serve the cost-effective needs of the coastal population. A discussion of the effect of fluid pressures gave insights into the equipment necessary to produce the tidal power, including a description of the use of overall materials like the cemntitious materials. Power saving strategies to capture sea foods at the location of capturing the tidal power showed affordable livelihood to the local people residing along the sea coast. The discussion includes different kinds of power tapping strategies in order to optimize the capturing of tidal related sources of power in the locale, and includes discussion on the equipment for use. The study includes discussion on the conservation of vegetation along the sea coast during the occurrence of high tides.
