69184 - Sustainable Manufacturing Design Practices in Palm Oil Extracting Machine
Sustainability has been useful to many fields, such as engineering, manufacturing and design. Manufacturers are concerned about the topic of sustainability. For instance, recognition of the relationship between manufacturing operations and the natural environment has become an important factor in the decision making among industrial societies. Creators and manufacturing decision makers who approve a sustainability focus and establish a sustainability culture are more likely to be successful in enhancing design and manufacturing. In design, there are strong differentiation between theory and practice. The fluid nature of the theory allows the designer to operate without being constrained by a rigid structure. In practice, decisions are often referred to as intuition. Manufacturing technologies address the capabilities to design and to create products, and to manage that overall process. Palm kernel oil extracting machine play a vital role , have some amount of oil in them which can be extracted by crushing them using palm oil extracting machine .Traditional method of palm kernel oil extraction did not produce effective results as the modern palm kernel oil extracting machine guarantee. The outmoded method of oil extraction in Nigeria is known as heat rendering process. In this method, the kernels are fried and roasted in a pot placed over firewood. The oil is expelled by dripping. is time consuming, drudgery-prone, involves heat hazards, and grossly inefficient, the oil extracted by this method is very poor in quality and is, in most cases, not used for consumption. A palm oil kernel screw press is a mechanical machine that is used to extract palm kernel oil by applying intense pressure to kernel. The worm shaft is at an increasing diameter while the screw system is at a decreasing pitch a combination that is essential for obtaining maximum pressure for oil extraction and cake extrusion process. Practices can be used strategically to improve manufacturing, through such other activities as benchmarking and performance measurement. Good manufacturing practices are the practices required in order to conform to the guidelines recommended by agencies that control the authorization and licensing of the manufacture and sale of food and beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, dietary supplements, and medical devices. The scope of this work includes, design, sustainable manufacturing, modeling parts and assembling, analysis of machine and the components. Computer Aided Design software was used in the design and appropriate material selection was considered for it fabrication. Simulation analysis will be carried out using NX 11 Siemen.
