144977 - Fostering Industry 5.0: A Framework for Digital Twin Development in Manufacturing
In the realm of Industry 5.0, Digital Twins (DTs) have emerged as an effective tool for enhancing manufacturing processing. The purpose of this study is to present a framework for the development of digital twins with a particular focus on the utilization of the OPC UA protocol for data communication and Virtual Reality (VR) integration for visualization purposes. In the investigation, the DT framework is applied to a manufacturing use case: a CNC machining center. Through a systematic approach, the analysis provides a deep dive into the development of the tools used to create the Digital Twin, as well as practical code implementations for data extraction and interaction within the simulation environment. By fostering standardized methodologies this study aims to contribute to the technological evolution of Industry 5.0 and enhance the integration between industrial data and virtual simulations. By fostering standardized methodologies in digital twin development, this work aims to contribute to the advancement of Industry 5.0 and pave the way for enhanced understanding and simulation of machine tool operations.
